- Status: Archived
- Subcommittee: Air Quality
- Cost: Under $99k
- Timeframe: Under 1 year
Research Idea Scope
The objective is to idenity opportunities for energy development at properties currently used for Rest Areas. A guidance document on basic requirement would allow for sites to be assessed for future wind, solar, etc. energy.
Urgency and Payoff
Alternative energy sources are necessary to keep the US independent for foreign oil sources. The rest area properties have the potential to house wind, solar and other innovative energy type sources that could be used to add to the current power grid, or to power the rest area operations, including the provision of electric vehicle power.
