Research Idea Scope

Examine performance indicators that measure timely human access more directly.  How can transportation systems be easily evaluated in terms of measures of human quality of life – community livability, increasing commerce activity, energy efficiency, environmental health, pedestrian and bicycle comfort, accessibility – hours consumed for tasks (to school, daycare, work, pleasure, etc).

Urgency and Payoff

Better understanding of transportation systems and how they relate to travelers access, needs, comfort and wants.  Do current mobility and congestion metrics evaluate the human scale and quality of living?
