Research Idea Scope

Refine and develop technology for converting woody biomass to ehtanol.  Evaluate and develop potential for substitution of ethanol for petroleum fuels.  Study and develop sustainable supplies of woody biomass from fuel reduction projects including environmental and political challenges.

Urgency and Payoff

Developing the technology, industry and raw material supply for ethanol from woody biomass will reduce America’s carbon footprint and dependence on foreign oil.  It will create high paying sustainable jobs in an environmentally beneficial industry.
