Research Idea Scope

Testing of a noise reduction panel that has a .95 NRC (noise reduction coifficient) for a lower decibel rating. Mounting panels on existing walls and taking decible readings from different locations.

Urgency and Payoff

Over 2,000 miles of ‘sound walls’ are merely relecting sound along highways and railways. The homes just next to the wall are experiencing some sound reduction; but most homes are receiving little, if any benefit. These new sound absorbing panels can be easily retro-fitted to these existing 2,000 miles of non-working walls as well as be fitted for all new construction of sound barriers.
