Research Idea Scope
TERI Database Administrator Notes: Not recommended at present time by 2009 Subcommittee on Cultural Resources.
Conduct research to determine the subsurface disturbance resulting from the placement of fill (temporary and permanent) material and the resulting impacts to archaeological resources. Activities include: Literature search to identify existing information; developing a methodology for field study of fill placement impacts; recommend criteria for when archaeological surveys need to be completed versus when fill can be placed over archaeological sites.
Urgency and Payoff
Reduction in the number of archaeological sites that need to be excavated thereby expediting project delivery.
