Research Idea Scope

Develop a method to use less water when curing concrete cylinders in a moisture room and develop a procedure to recylce  water from the moisture room.

Several times Metro-Atlanta has experienced severe drought with lake levels dropping significantly.  We installed finer misting spray nozzles in our moisture rooms where we cure concrete cylinders and we installed a water meter on the water line to measure the before and after water usage.  We reduced our water usage but the water goes straight down the drain.

Urgency and Payoff

Laboratories across the country that cure concrete cylinders in a moisture room will cumulatively save millions of gallons of water and save a tremdous amount of money since the water goes down the drain and the sewage bill is based on water usage.
