Study finds the U.S. can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2035 from 2005 levels

As the U.S. prepares to establish new climate goals (or nationally determined contributions – NDCs), the Center for Global Sustainability at the University of Maryland has released a new comprehensive analysis at Climate Week NYC, detailing how high-ambition U.S. climate action across all sectors and at every level of government, industry, and society could achieve 65% emissions reductions by 2035, based on 2005 levels. The study suggests that the United States can achieve ambitious goals by adopting an all-society approach that integrates both federal and non-federal efforts and aligns with the Paris Agreement goal of maintaining a 1.5C-degree temperature rise limit.
