Research Idea Scope

DOTs are not able to afford to make all
desirable changes to adapt to impending climate change, but at least they can
provide good basic guidance to local governments on doing their own planning
for transportation.  A number of DOTs
have invested in development of such guidance, which could be compiled and
generalized for a wider audience.

Urgency and Payoff

This project would enable DOTs to leverage
existing guidance and resources in a timely way, so that infrastructure
investments at all levels of government take into account climate change
adaptation.
